December 28: A Prayer for Houston Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Personnel

Merciful Father, we thank You for the men and women who serve as police officers, firefighters and emergency first responders for the Greater Houston Area. Thank You for empowering them spiritually, mentally, psychologically and physically for the trauma that they face daily.  Thank You for being their strength and their hope. You are awesome in Your sanctuary.  God of Israel, You give power and strength to Your people. Praise be to You, God! May all who are Godly rejoice in You, Lord, and praise Your holy Name! Let all who take refuge in You rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. We give thanks to You who made the heavens so skillfully. Your faithful love endures forever. We give thanks to You who placed the earth among the waters.  Your faithful love endures forever.

Today, we stand in the gap for our police officers, firefighters and emergency medical personnel.  We declare God’s protection and provision over their lives.  In Jesus’ Name, we declare that no weapon turned against them will succeed.  Every voice which rises up to accuse them will be silenced. As they go out on emergency calls, we confess that You will order Your angels to protect them wherever they go.  Your angels will hold them up with their hands so they will not hurt their foot on a stone. By faith, we confess that the public servants who are called by Your Name, Father, will love You with all of their hearts, soul, strength, and mind.  They will find their source of strength in You. We declare that they will consistently seek Your will in all that they do and You will show them which path to take.

Holy Spirit, as the first responders seek You for wisdom, please reveal any snares, traps or pitfalls that may lay ahead of them and show them how to circumvent these dangers. Help them to remain focused when they respond to an emergency. Help them to all work together as a well-oiled machine.  Remind them to be their brother or sister’s keeper. Calm the fears of their loved ones, especially young children. Help the family members to trust You for the safety of their loved ones. Holy Spirit, remind those first responders who are Believers to always be joyful, never stop praying and to be thankful in all circumstances.  Remind the citizens of our great city to be mindful of our first responders; to follow their instructions, pray for them and to be appreciative of the commitment that these men and women have made to our city.

Holy Spirit, show me ways in which I may assist the police, fire and emergency medical personnel in my community:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Merciful Father, forgive our police, fire and emergency personnel for their sins.  Forgive them for any injustice within the respective departments. Forgive us as a city for failing to recognize first responders until a tragedy occurs.   Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind our police officers, fire-fighters and emergency medical personnel of those they need to forgive and help them to forgive.  As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He shows you, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).” Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help our police officers, fire-fighters and emergency medical personnel to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Lord of Heaven’s Armies, You are great.  How deserving of praise, in the city of our God, which sits on Your mountain! As Your Name deserves, O God, You will be praised to the ends of the earth. Your strong right hand is filled with victory.  God Almighty, You reign forever and ever! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

November 30: A Prayer for Caregivers

Worthy Father, we praise Your wonderful Name. Thank You for those in our Church Family who have assumed the responsibility as caregiver for a parent or relative. Thank You for Your sufficient grace which is given to each of them daily.  Thank You for working in them and giving them the desire and power to do what pleases You. We are grateful for their willingness to model Jesus in the way that they give up their lives to meet the needs of others. Heavenly Father, we have seen You in Your sanctuary and gazed upon Your power and glory. Your unfailing love is better than life itself. How we praise You!  Because You are our Helper, we will sing for joy in the shadow of Your wings. We cling to You. Your strong right hand holds us securely. How joyful are those of us who fear You, Lord. We delight in obeying Your commands.

Holy Father, we confess that in Your unsearchable wisdom, You have graced the caregivers in our Church Family.  We declare that they will not get tired of doing good; but that they will persevere until the appointed time for them to reap their harvest of blessing. As they trust in You to fill them with new strength, they will soar high on wings of eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. They will remain strong and courageous; confident that the sacrifices they are making will be rewarded. Lord, we decree that even when they plant in tears, they will harvest with shouts of joy.  No matter how challenging the task, they will do everything without complaining or arguing so that no one can criticize them. As they do this, they will shine like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.  We declare that from Your glorious, unlimited resources, You, our Father, will empower them with inner strength through the Holy Spirit.

Consider those you know who are caregivers and ask the Holy Spirit to help you identify three ways you can be a blessing to them today:

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Holy Spirit, give comfort to those who spend their lives comforting others. Lord, for those who are now parenting a parent or guardian, please help them to process this role reversal and give them the strength and wisdom to handle this change without disrespecting their parent or guardian. Remind them that the Father sees their sacrifices and He will reward them.  Encourage them to not neglect their mental and physical health and help them to find healthy, holy ways to relax.  Please send others to relieve them of their duties so that they can enjoy rest, fun and relaxation.  Lord, please help the caregivers to not grow resentful or angry; but help them to roll their cares upon You and trust that You will take care of both them and the loved one they are caring for. Remove those who are abusive and mean-spirited. As a Church Family, show us how we can support the caregivers among us.

Gracious Father, forgive those of us who take caregivers for granted.  Forgive those who selfishly overload them with tasks. Forgive those who are caregivers for succumbing to anger and frustration when they should be patient and tenderhearted. Forgive those caregivers for murmuring and complaining, and for being inconsiderate. Forgive those who may have been negligent and lazy while caring for others. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed). Holy Spirit, remind our caregivers of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names and faces of people that you may need to forgive. As He shows you, say aloud, “I forgive names of person(s).” Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help our caregivers not to yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

O Holy One of Israel, You are King! Let the nations tremble. You sit on Your throne between the cherubim. Let the whole earth quake! You sit in majesty in Jerusalem, exalted above all the nations. We exalt You and bow low before Your feet, for You are holy!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

November 15: A Prayer for Our U.S. Military Personnel

Heavenly Father, we thank You for our U.S. Military personnel.  We thank You for blessing our armed forces throughout history. We thank You for making our nation a mighty power in the world. Thank You for our men and women who are returning home from Iraq.  Lord, we praise and honor Your Name. Your Name is the Lord and we rejoice before You.  You have been our home through all the generations.  We praise You, the God of Israel, who lives from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and amen!  O Lord, what a variety of things You have made.  In wisdom, You have made them all.  The earth is full of Your creatures.  Lord, You are a faithful, loving and compassionate God and we bless You.

Righteous Father, we declare that You are the light and salvation of our military personnel; they will not be afraid. You are their fortress and their protection from danger; they will not tremble. Any enemy or foe who comes to attack them will stumble and fall. Our soldiers will trust in You with all of their hearts and they will not depend on their own understanding. They will seek Your will in all that they do, and we know that You will show them which path to take. We declare that our military personnel are blessed and highly favored. They will submit themselves to God, resist the devil and he will flee from them. With the authority given to us, we cancel the assignment of anxiety, depression, anger, fear and confusion and declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper. We command God’s order to prevail within the Veteran Affairs system.

List the name(s) of the active or inactive military veteran(s) you know and insert their name(s) in the prayer:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Worthy Father, please continue to provide for the families of those soldiers who have been deployed to war.  Holy Spirit, help our veterans who have returned home to process all they have experienced. Heal any physical and emotional wounds. Please help them with their familial, social, and professional relationships.  Lord, we ask that the wait times for appointments at the VA Hospital will be shortened and that each veteran will be treated with dignity and respect.  Holy Spirit, please give our government officials the wisdom on how to cut down on the red tape that ensnares so many veterans from receiving all of the benefits they are entitled to.  As a nation, help us to not overlook or discount the sacrifices our military veterans have made for the freedom of our nation.

Forgiving Father, please forgive our active and inactive military personnel for their sins.  Forgive them for lying, cheating, stealing, slander, strife, malice, envy, jealousy, selfishness, disobedience and rebellion.   Forgive our nation for hypocrisy, slander, greed, racism, injustice, elitism, hatred, and violence.  Father, forgive the media for misrepresenting the truth.  Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed.)  Holy Spirit, remind our active and inactive military personnel of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help our active and inactive military personnel to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Lord, You reign.  You dwell between the cherubim; let the earth be moved.  You are great in Zion and high above all people.  Your name is so great and awesome.  You are Holy.  Yours is the kingdom, the power and glory, forever.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

August 25: A Prayer for the Successful Implementation of the 19th Annual Prayer Explosion Conference

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the Prayer Institute. Thank You for the 19th Annual Prayer Explosion Conference. Thank You for imparting Your wisdom, power, healing and deliverance in previous conferences. Thank You in advance for Your divine visitation at this year’s conference.  Glorious Lord, we give thanks to You, for You are good; Your faithful love endures forever.  Who can list Your glorious miracles?  Who can ever praise You enough?  We will continue to thank You, Lord, among all the people.  We will sing Your praises among the nations.  For Your unfailing love is higher than the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.

Almighty Father, we declare that the 19th Annual Prayer Explosion Conference will be an extraordinary experience of powerful praise, spirit-filled teaching, and supernatural miracles and healing.  We confess that the Spirit of the Sovereign Lord will be upon each speaker, staff and volunteer team member.  They will bring good news to the poor, comfort the brokenhearted, proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed.  Father, we declare that our volunteers will work hard so that they present themselves to You and receive Your approval; good workers who are not ashamed and who correctly explain the Word of truth.  It is our expectation that people from all denominations and cultures throughout the United States and the world will attend the conference when they hear the advertisements about Prayer Explosion.  Holy Father, we declare that the funding for the conference will come and there will be surplus.  We expect Your blessings to abound in the lives of all the people who will attend this glorious event. We commit all of the plans for the 19th Annual Prayer Explosion Conference to You and thank You in advance for a successful conference.

Holy Spirit, show me what You want me to specifically pray for concerning the 19th Annual Prayer Explosion Conference or Youth Prayer Explosion:

Loving Father, we ask You to save the lost through the conference.  Please draw the youth in our community to Youth Prayer Explosion.  Give them an ear to hear and the wisdom to implement what they will learn during this wonderful gathering.  Give Minister Ray Bady and Ms. Leona Ellis wisdom and discernment as they design the programming for the youth.  Encourage the parents to partner with Minister Bady and Ms. Ellis to ensure that our youth are learning and walking in their Kingdom identity.  Please fill each member of The Prayer Institute, the planning team and volunteers with the complete knowledge of Your will and give them spiritual wisdom, discernment, understanding, and patience. Increase Your creativity and innovation within them.  Strengthen each of them and keep them healthy. Father, please increase their stamina and perseverance to complete this divine assignment.

Forgiving Father, forgive each speaker, volunteer and staff person for their sins.  Forgive those who are so busy working that they fail to get into Your presence.  Forgive anyone who speaks contrary to this great conference.  Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind us all of those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help everyone associated with the 19th Annual Prayer Explosion Conference to not yield to temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

Eternal Lord, righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne. Fire spreads before You and burns up all Your foes. Your lightning flashes out across the world. The earth sees and trembles, and the mountains melt like wax before You, for You are the Lord of all the earth!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A Prayer of Thanksgiving for Jesus Christ (our Passover Lamb)

A Prayer of Thanksgiving for Jesus Christ (our Passover Lamb)

Scripture Reading:

Hebrews 1:1-12, Hebrews 9:11-28

Reflections of the Heart:

“Jesus (our Passover Lamb) has borne our grief and carried our sorrow.  He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities.  The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and it is with His stripes that we are healed.”  Isaiah 53:4-5

Scriptural Prayer:

Heavenly Father, we praise You, the Lord of hosts.  Lord, You are good and Your mercy endures forever. You are the Lord, our Righteousness.  We are grateful to You!  We thank You that all who choose eternal lifeare included in Your Church Family. We adore You as Abba Father, with all our hearts.  Thank You for being such a loving God.  Thank You for being our God and making us Your people. Thank You for being mindful of us and sending Your Son, Jesus Christ, to be our Deliverer and Liberator.

Jesus, You made us right in God’s sight through Your obedience to His plan of Your death on the cross, resurrection and ascension into heaven. We have the peace of God because of our faith in You. Lord Jesus, You have brought us into a plan of undeserved privilege and position with God, and we confidently and joyfully believe to see God’s glory. HALLEL YAH!  When we were utterly helpless in our sin nature, You came to earth at just the right time and died for us sinners. Most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who he thought did especially good deeds.  But, God showed His great love for us by sending You to die for us while we were still sinners.  Since we have been made right in God’s sight by Your blood, we believers in You, Lord, are saved from God’s condemnation.  Because of Your death, our friendship with God is restored.  Today, we can rejoice in our wonderful relationship with God because You have made us God’s heirs.  You became our sacrifice.  You endured pain, shame, and humiliation to purchase our right-standing with God.  Jesus, we love You.  Because of You, we are God’s righteousness.  Father God, Jesus and Your Word inspires us to be all that You have created us to be.

Who is Jesus Christ to you? What is your relationship like with Him?

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

Holy Spirit, inspire us to always remember that Jesus is our Godly Brother.  Remind us to love and appreciate Him. Remind us to confess our love for You, Holy Spirit, and our Heavenly Father, God, and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  We yield to be led and guided in our daily confession to share as witnesses the goodness of Christ with our families, friends, co-workers and enemies.  Most of all, Holy Spirit, remind us that we have a new nature in Christ. Remind us that our self-esteem, both spiritually and mentally, is centered solely in Jesus Christ.

Father, forgive us for not fully pursuing the knowledge of the sacrifice Christ made for our freedom.  Forgive us for taking communion without remembering Jesus’ death on our behalf.  Forgive us for our overt and covert acts of sin, including stubbornness, arrogance, selfishness, ungratefulness, pride and rebellion.  Holy  Spirit, inspire our Church Family members who have drifted back into old bondages and enslaved mentalities to know that God forgives those who come before Him out of a pure heart and ask for forgiveness.  Father, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind us all of those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive.

Father, help us to not yield to temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

Eternal God, You are mighty and strong.  You are the One and Only Creator above all.  You are Jehovah Jireh, our God who provides! King above all kings!  Jesus, You are God’s Worthy Lamb, slain as God’s sacrifice for the sin of the world. You have all authority, power, riches, wisdom, strength, honor, glory and blessing in heaven and earth. Honor, glory and power belong to You, the One sitting at God’s right hand on the throne. You are the Lamb forever and ever. In Your mighty Name, Jesus, we pray. Amen.

A Prayer of Worship

A Prayer of Worship

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 147, Deuteronomy 6:1-9

Reflections of the Heart:

Our God is an awesome God.  He is kind, tenderhearted, and merciful.  Our Father loves us with an everlasting love and He is always concerned about our welfare.  All that we need He provides through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.  God should always be revered and adored.  He should have our utmost respect.  Today, bless the Lord.  Lift up your praises to the One who is the living God; our God who is our Father.

Scriptural Prayer:

Father, we bless Your Holy Name.  We declare Your loving-kindness in the morning and Your faithfulness every night.  Lord, You are merciful, gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.  As the heavens are high above the earth, so great is Your mercy toward those who fear You.  Let all the earth fear You, Lord.  Let everyone in the world fear You, and let everyone stand in awe of You.   Lord, You speak and it is done; You command and it stands fast.  Lord, You are our portion and hope.  Thank You, Father, for Your love and compassion.  Thank You for keeping Your covenant with us throughout the ages.  Thank You for making us Your people.  What a joy it is to be one of Your children.  Father, You are good and Your mercy endures forever.

Father, today, we reverence and honor You.  You are our God and we submit our loyalty and adoration to You.   You are the First and the Last.  You existed before time and created everything that exists.  We acknowledge that You are the only living God.  There are no other gods.  Father, You are kind and merciful, slow to anger and filled with unfailing love.  You are good to everyone and You shower compassion on all of Your creation.  All of Your works will thank You, Lord and we, Your faithful followers, bless You.  You are so awesome!  We confess that we will keep Your commandments, walk in Your ways, and revere You.  Father, we confess that Your instructions are perfect, reviving our souls.  Your decrees are trustworthy, making wise the simple. Your commandments are right, bringing joy to our hearts.  Your commands are clear, giving insight for living.  Revering You is pure, lasting forever.  Your laws are true and each one is fair.  Father, Your Word is more desirable than gold, yes, even the finest gold.  Your Word is sweeter than honey dripping from the honeycomb. Your Word warns us and we expect great reward as we adhere to it.  Father, You are great and most worthy of praise.  We will bless You at all times and constantly speak of Your praises.

List three attributes about God’s character that you love:

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

Father, please let Your ears be attentive to our prayer.  Holy Spirit, teach us how to reverence and adore our Father in true holiness.  Please touch the hearts of those who do not reverence and adore You, and help them to love You with all their hearts, souls, and strength.  Holy Spirit, place in us a hunger and thirst for Your righteousness so that we will be filled.

List three ways you can show appreciation and gratitude to the Lord:

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

Father, forgive us for sins of pride, rebellion, disobedience, selfishness, hatred, and idolatry.  Lord, forgive us for half-hearted worship.  Forgive us for disrespecting Your Name and treating You irreverently.   Forgive those of us who are parents for not teaching our children to reverence and adore You.  Lord, remind us of those we need to forgive; and help us to forgive.

Lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

Lord, You are the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.  You are the God who is, and who always was, and who is still to come – the Almighty One.  All honor and glory belongs to You, God, forever and ever!  You are the eternal King, the unseen One who will never die; You alone are God.  Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A Prayer of Thanksgiving

A Prayer of Thanksgiving

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 136, Ephesians 5:20

Reflections of the Heart:

As a Church Family, we join in corporate thanksgiving for God’s favor, mercy and lovingkindness towards us.  It is not that we have been so good, but because He is good.  We are tremendously blessed.  God’s mercy endures forever and we are to be thankful for it.  As we gather this month with our families to celebrate Thanksgiving, let us share with one another our personal thanks to God.

Scriptural Prayer:

Father, we give thanks to You, for You are good.  Your faithful love endures forever.  We give thanks to You, the Lord of lords.  Your faithful love endures forever.  To You, who alone does mighty miracles. You are the God who made the heavens so skillfully.  You laid out the earth above the waters.  We thank You, Father, for forgiving our sins, healing all of our diseases, redeeming us from death, crowning us with Your loving-kindness and tender mercies, filling our lives with good things and renewing our youth like the eagles.  Thank You for giving us Your Name and making us Your children.  Thank You for giving us a future and a hope.  Thank You for being our Shepherd and protecting us.  Thank You for protecting our children and blessing them to grow in Your wisdom and stature.  Thank You for providing us with our daily bread.  We are blessed to have You as our Father.

Father, as we observe Thanksgiving, we thank You for establishing Your will on earth as it is in heaven through our lives. Father, it is Your will for us to give thanks to You always and in all things.  As we observe Thanksgiving, we thank You for:  (List 7-10 things you are thankful for.  Think about your family, career, church, friends, yourself, etc.)

Father, we magnify Your Name.  You are an excellent Father and we love You.  Holy Spirit, please help us to always walk in an attitude of thankfulness.  Help us to daily look for things to praise and thank the Father for.

Father, forgive us for being ungrateful and unappreciative.  Forgive us for acting spoiled and arrogant.  Forgive us for always wanting more and not counting our blessings.   Forgive us for acts of rebellion and disobedience.  Father, thank You for not dealing with us according to our sins nor punishing us according to our iniquities.  Lord, remind us of those we need to forgive; and help us to be quick to forgive.

Lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

Blessing and honor and glory and power be to You, Lord, who sits on the throne and to the Lamb forever and ever.  You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created.  Blessing, glory, wisdom, thanksgiving, honor, power and might, be to You, our God forever and ever.  Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
