February 29: A Prayer for the State of Texas

Our Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your tender mercies and loving-kindness towards the City of Houston.  Thank You for the bountiful blessings You have given to us.  Thank You for the state of Texas.  Thank You for uniting the Christians within our state.  Lord, no pagan god is like You, our Lord.  None can do what You do!  All the nations You made will come and bow before You; they will praise Your holy Name.   You are great, and perform wonderful deeds.  You alone are God.   Lord, You are good and Your faithful love endures forever.

Glorious Father, we declare that the state of Texas belongs to You and that it is You who will cause prosperity to overflow in our communities and cities. We decree that justice will run down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream within the political, judicial, and educational systems in our state.  We commit to praying for those who are in authority over us; Governor Greg Abbott, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, Mayor Sylvester Turner, the city council, and all business, civic and community leaders.  As we do this, we expect to live peaceful and quiet lives marked by Godliness and dignity.  We declare that the righteous in our city and state will be called priests of the Lord; ministers of You, our God.  We will feed on the treasures of the nations and boast in their riches.  Instead of shame and dishonor, the residents of Texas will enjoy a double share of honor.  We will possess a double portion of prosperity in our land, and everlasting joy will be ours.

Holy Spirit, show me how to pray specifically for the needs of my community:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Rise up, O God, in Texas and scatter Your enemies.  Let crime, murder and lawlessness be scattered. Let homelessness, unemployment and corporate greed be scattered.  Holy Spirit, fill the halls of the schools in our state so that our children and youth will be safe and will obtain a quality education.  Father, please open doors for economic increase within our communities.  Help the homeowners in Texas to successfully maintain their property and pay their mortgages and taxes on time.  Let equality and justice flow through the Medical Center so that everyone receives quality, affordable health care.  Let Your perfect love and peace preside over our city and state.  Holy Spirit, help Texas to stand as a beacon of light and hope for the nation to see what a Godly state looks like.

Righteous Father, forgive the people of our state for hypocrisy, injustice, oppression, greed, racism, sexism, ageism, elitism, deceit, lying, lewdness, pornography, selfish ambitions, lawlessness, rebellion, violence, hatred, partiality, sexual promiscuity, homosexuality, adultery, fornication, and slander.  Forgive us for not equipping and preparing the next generation with the tools, knowledge and self-confidence they will need to be effective, efficient leaders for tomorrow.   Lord, forgive the Body of Christ for not praying consistently for our leaders, city, state and nation.  Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind us all of those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive.  As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He shows you, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).”  Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help the residents of the state of Texas to not yield to temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

Eternal Lord, You are Holy.  You are the blessed and only Almighty God, the King of kings and Lord of lords.  You alone can never die, and lives in light so brilliant that no human can approach You.  No one has ever seen You, nor ever will.  To You be honor and power forever.  In Jesus’ Name, amen.

February 28: A Prayer Regarding Unpleasant Work Environments

Glorious Father, we thank You for the blessing of employment.  Thank You for Your favor that surrounds Your children like a shield.  Thank You for Your goodness and mercy which follow closely behind us.  Lord, Your Kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. You rule throughout all generations.  You always keep Your promises; You are gracious in all that You do.  You help the fallen and lift those bent beneath their loads.  The eyes of all look to You in hope; You give them their food as they need it.  When You open Your hand, You satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing.  We bless and praise Your holy Name!

Almighty Father, we declare that Your Word will be operative in the lives of our Church Family members who work in unpleasant environments.  We confess that as they commit their works to You, their plans will succeed. Holy Spirit, we declare that our Church Family members who work in unpleasant environments will yield to Your leading and guidance so that they will be empowered to be light in the midst of their dark work environment. They are peacemakers in contentious situations so they will be blessed. Lord, we confess that they will walk uprightly and do what is right so no good thing will be withheld from them. We decree that as employers treat their employees and customers with dignity, fairness and respect; they will be blessed as they endure persecution for doing what is right.

Holy Spirit, I will declare the following scriptural blessing for my employer:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Holy Spirit, please fill our Church Family members who work in unpleasant environments with Your wisdom, understanding, counsel, and power.  Give them dreams and visions that exceed their expectations and provide them with the resources they need to successfully accomplish Your purpose(s) for them.  As they perform their assigned tasks, help them to always work as unto You. Holy Spirit, help them to be peacemakers in their work environment and to not participate in any negative conversations or behaviors.  Father, help their supervisors and managers to communicate and write down the mission, vision and job descriptions and make them plain to their employees so that they can implement it.  Help our Church Family members to not grow weary while doing well at their jobs and remind them that they will reap a harvest of blessings if they do not give up.

Merciful Father, forgive the employees and employers who work in unpleasant environments for all acts of sinfulness.  Forgive those who have not been diligent in seeking Your guidance and leadership in their work places.  Forgive those who do not trust in You, but lean to their own understanding.  Forgive those who have compromised Your Word in order to make a profit.  Forgive those employers who have not treated their employees and customers fairly.  Forgive those who have not properly taken care of or shown respect for one another.

Holy Spirit, help us all to not yield to temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

Eternal King, You are the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth.  You never grow weak or weary.  No one can measure the depths of Your understanding.    In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

February 27: A Prayer for Our Disabled Veterans

Most Holy Father, thank You for all of our disabled veterans. We thank You for their unstoppable spirit and loyal service to The United States of America. Thank You for Your hand of grace which has preserved their lives. What awesome miracles You perform for Your people! Our lives are in Your hands and You keep our feet from stumbling. You have tested us and purified us like silver. We glorify Your wonderful Name. Your faithfulness to Your children is never-ending. We are grateful to belong to You. Your salvation surrounds us like city walls and praise flows from the lips of all those who enter Your presence. You are our everlasting light and glory.

Almighty Father, we decree that the disabled veterans in our Church Family are the apple of Your eye. You are faithful to them and have delivered them from the wicked with Your sword. We confess that they are Your treasured ones whose hunger You always satisfy. We declare that their children have plenty and they will leave an inheritance for their descendants. We decree that when our disabled veterans are surrounded by troubles, You will protect them from the anger of their enemies. The power of Your right hand saves them. We declare that You will work out Your plans for their lives. Because of Your faithful, enduring love they are never abandoned, for you made them. It was nobody but You who redeemed their lives and snatched them from the power of the grave. We declare over them that despite physical loss, they are overwhelmingly victorious through Christ, who loves them. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither their fears for today nor their worries about tomorrow – not even the powers of hell can separate them from Your love, Father.

Holy Spirit, I commit to pray for the needs of the following disabled veterans today:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Holy Spirit, please encourage and uplift the hearts of those disabled veterans who feel lost, unappreciated, and rejected. Save those who don’t know the Lord Jesus in the pardon of their sins. Please help our Church Family to embrace our disabled veterans with love and honor for their sacrifices on our behalf. Help us to incorporate them into the ministry, encouraging them to use their gifts to Your glory. We ask you to lead and guide President Barack Obama, and our military and congressional leaders to develop and implement effective programs that will aid in sheltering our homeless veterans, providing proper mental and physical healthcare to them, and supplying them with fair funding for their continued education. Let the peace that comes from Christ rule in the hearts of our disabled veterans.  May they always be thankful. Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill their lives.

Gracious Father, forgive the sins of our disabled veterans. Forgive those who are so scarred with disappointment and confusion that they reject Your love. Forgive those who have not been obedient to follow the instructions of their physicians. Forgive them for purposely neglecting their mental and physical health needs. Forgive those of us, Lord, who have ignored and abandoned our disabled veterans. Forgive us for not honoring them for their service to our nation. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind our disabled veterans of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help our disabled veterans not to yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Magnificent Lord, You are a warrior. Yahweh is Your name! Your right hand is glorious in power. It smashes the enemy. In the greatness of Your majesty, You overthrow those who rise against You. The strong right arm of the Lord is raised in triumph. The strong right arm of the Lord has done glorious things! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

February 26: A Prayer for Health Professionals

Divine Father, thank You for showing us the wonders of Your unfailing love. Thank You for hearing our cry for mercy and answering our call for help. Thank You for all those in the Body of Christ who serve in the health profession. We thank You for doctors, nurses, researchers, scientists, hospital administrators, therapists, pharmacists, medical assistants, paramedics, and medical technicians with discernment, understanding, knowledge, and courage. What a blessing they are to all of us! By Your wisdom, You have strategically equipped and anointed men and women with expertise in medicine, science, nutrition, pharmacy, surgery, rehabilitation, and counseling. Lord, You made the heavens Your throne; You rule over everything from there.  Your angels praise You, Lord.  Your mighty ones who carry out Your plans, listen for each of Your commands.  Lord, everything that You created will praise You; everything in Your Kingdom!   Let all that we are praise You!

All-Wise Father, we decree that just as the Hebrew midwives, Shiphrah and Puah, feared and obeyed You, our healthcare professionals will not succumb to the pressure to compromise; but they remain committed to their oath to “do no harm.” We believe that You are working wonders in the healthcare profession right now. We confess that our healthcare professionals believe in the promises of Your Word, and as they ask You, You will tell them remarkable secrets about things to come in their profession. They will be pioneers in discovering cures and medical breakthroughs for our generation. We decree that the health professionals in our Church Family will seek Your wisdom and knowledge and always pursue excellence in their chosen fields.  They are dedicated to the proper care and treatment of all their patients and they will remember to show their patients mercy, just as You have shown mercy to them.

Now, ask the Holy Spirit to remind you of the names of those you know in the healthcare field and pray for their specific needs:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Holy Spirit, remind our health professionals not to trust in human wisdom; but in the power of God. Please comfort the hearts of those who have recently lost a patient who was under their care. Help them to heal from the emotional wounds that come along with their jobs. Give them the boldness they need to stand up for their patients’ rights and to contribute significantly to the pursuit of healthcare reform in our country. Remind our healthcare professionals that they represent the Kingdom of God in the healthcare industry, so their demeanor and behavior should reflect Kingdom principles. Please continue to bless the covenant partnerships that our ministries have formed with the medical community, including Texas Children’s Hospital, Methodist Hospital, M.D. Anderson and TIRR Memorial Hermann.  May we continue to work together to bring the best healthcare to more underserved communities.

Beloved Father, forgive those among our healthcare professionals who have been prideful and arrogant, taking Your glory for themselves. Forgive those who have been more concerned with financial gain than being a servant. Forgive those who have neglected to do their jobs in excellence and who have placed the lives of others in jeopardy by cutting corners and taking shortcuts. Forgive those who have failed to show compassion while working with the loved ones of their patients. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed). Holy Spirit, remind our healthcare professionals of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help our healthcare professionals not to yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Lord of Glory, You alone are God. You are the First and the Last. It was Your hand that laid the foundations of the earth. Your right hand spread out the heavens above. When You call out the stars, they all appear in order.  You alone can never die and You live in light so brilliant that no human can approach You. No human eye has ever seen You, nor ever will. All honor and power is Yours forever, Lord!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

February 25: A Declaration of Financial Stability

Beloved Father, thank You for being our Great Provider. Thank you for jobs, businesses, and income. Thank You for all of the blessings that Your favor has afforded us. Let us live forever in Your sanctuary, safe beneath the shelter of Your wings! For You have heard our vows, O God. You have given us an inheritance reserved for those who fear Your Name. May we remain under Your protection forever. May Your unfailing love and faithfulness watch over us. Then we will sing praises to Your Name forever as we fulfill our vows each day.

Lord, we, the Body of Christ, declare that the earth is Yours, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to You. In light of this truth, we declare that we will not rely on the government or anyone else to help us to become financially stable. We will trust in You with all our hearts and we will not depend on our own understanding. We will seek Your will in all we do, and we know that You will show us which path to take. We will not place the welfare of our families at risk by making hasty or unwise financial decisions. As ambassadors of Your Kingdom, we take authority over debt, greed, and reckless spending in all forms. In Jesus’ Name, we rebuke the spirit of poverty, and we command that all that God has entitled us to have is released back into our possession right now! We decree that we will not love money, but we will be satisfied with what we have, for Father, You promised that You will never fail us and You will never abandon us. We will no longer be in fear about our financial future, but we will submit to the guidance of the Holy Spirit who understands all things pertaining to life.

Ask the Holy Spirit to show you what areas of financial stewardship you and your family need to improve so that you can become more financially stable:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Holy Spirit, help us to act responsibly in the way we handle our money. Remind us to put God first in everything we do. Give us a strong conviction to never withhold our tithes and offerings and to be generous toward others. Lord, teach us to be cheerful givers, for You promised that if we sow sparingly we will also reap sparingly. But if we sow bountifully we will also reap bountifully. Help those of us who are married to work together, not against one another, and to pray for direction about our family finances. Help all of us to seek out wise counsel to improve our understanding of financial management. Give us patience as we go through the process of correction and restoration. May we learn from our past mistakes and be mindful to leave a faithful path of excellence in stewardship for our children to follow.

Holy Father, forgive us of our many sins, including slothfulness, greed, pride, selfishness, arrogance, and rebelliousness. Forgive us when we carelessly make vows, then break them. Forgive us for conforming to the world’s way of doing things instead of adopting the values of the Kingdom. Forgive those of us who still withhold our tithe from You. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed). Holy Spirit, remind us of all those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help us to not yield to temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

Almighty King, You are greater than we can understand. Your years cannot be counted. Everything comes from You and exists by Your power and is intended for Your glory. All glory to You, Lord, forever! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

February 24: A Prayer for Our Mature Adults

Gracious Father, we thank You for our mature adults.  Thank You for the wisdom and knowledge that they share with us.  Thank You for providing for their spiritual, emotional, financial and physical need.  Your Name, O Lord, endures forever; Your fame is known to every generation.  You are righteous in everything that You do; You are filled with kindness.  You are close to all who call upon You in truth.  You grant the desires of those who fear You; You hear their cries for help and rescue them.  We praise You, Lord; may everyone on earth bless Your holy Name forever and ever.

Eternal Father, we confess that the older men in our Church Family will exercise self-control, are worthy of respect and live wisely.  They have strong faith and are filled with love and patience.  We declare that our older women are honorable and righteous.  They are not slanderous or heavy drinkers.  Instead, we confess that they will teach others what is good; they will train the younger women in our Church Family to love their husbands and their children, to live wisely and be pure, to work in their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands.  We decree that our older men are models of God’s strength and faithfulness, and they will teach our young men to respect authority, provide for their wives and children, live wisely, lead with compassion and fairness, and love their wives like Christ loves the church. We declare that our mature adults will continue to flourish like palm trees and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon.  Even in old age, they will still produce fruit and remain vital and green.

Write down the names of mature adults that you know.  Now, write down ways that you can enrich or bless their lives:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Holy Spirit, we know that some of our mature adults are lonely; please help us as a Church Family to reach out to them and surround them with the love of the Father.  Impress upon their family members to come and visit them and spend quality time with them.  Please help us to identify those seniors who have isolated themselves and show us how to meet their needs effectively.  Lord, many of our mature adults have worked hard all of their lives and some of them have seen their retirement funds depleted.  Please open up new revenue streams so that they will not have to struggle or go without financially.  Father, protect them from those who would try to prey upon them with get-rich-quick schemes, unnecessary mediation, predatory loans or any other schemes to steal from them.  Increase their discernment and wisdom when they make decisions, especially where their health and finances are concerned.  Remind our younger generations to regard our mature adults with honor and respect.

Merciful Father, forgive us as a nation for disregarding and disrespecting our mature adults.  Forgive us for viewing them as feeble and disposable. Forgive those mature adults who don’t depend completely upon You, but look at their circumstances.  Forgive those who have allowed life to cause them to grow bitter and angry.  Forgive those who do not check on or intentionally do not spend time with their older relatives. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind our mature adults of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, remind our mature adults to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Lord, there is no one like You!  You are great, and Your Name is full of power. Who would not fear You, O King of the nations? That title belongs to You alone! All glory majesty, power and authority are Yours before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

February 23: A Prayer for Healthy, Happy Marriages in Our Windsor Village Church Family

Exalted Father, thank You for Your great love that continues from generation to generation!  Thank You for the married couples in our Windsor Village Church Family. Thank You for encouraging and blessing our marriages.  With our whole being we praise You. We rejoice in knowing that You are our God, and that we are the people You watch over and the flock under Your care. We will sing a new song to You, Lord, for the wonderful deeds You have done. Your right hand has won a mighty victory and Your Holy arm has shown Your saving power!

Holy Father, as a Church Family, we confess that our married couples are never subject to the spirit of fear; but they have power, love and self-discipline to help them keep their covenant pure.  Our husbands will live with their wives according to knowledge and they will cherish them as the manifested gift of God’s favor. We declare that our wives will honor their husbands and will adorn themselves as Sarah did, not with material elegance, but with a quiet and peaceful spirit which You love, Lord God.  As a Church Family, we confess that our married couples will daily aspire to the greater love that Jesus personified and live a servant’s life before one another. We declare that they will provoke one another to good works and celebrate one another’s gifts. We confess that they will commit to encourage and build one another up in the Lord!

Holy Spirit, help each spouse to keep a heart of unconditional love for their mate. Reveal creative ways for our married couples to love and enjoy each other. Heal wounds and hurts and rejoin marriages that seem to be walking down separate paths. Teach them to freely issue mercy and to forgive quickly without allowing grudges to form.  Magnify the model of marriage through those who have healthy marriages, so that others are inspired and encouraged.  Anoint their unity together as husbands and wives, so that their children will be given stability and assurance, and the unsaved will be given hope concerning the sanctity of marriage. Re-light the passion and fire for those who are struggling sexually and emotionally.

Father, as a spouse, I commit to making my marriage better by:

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Father, as a single person, I commit to praying for the following marriage(s):

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Holy Father, forgive our married couples for being too stubborn to offer grace and mercy to their spouses when they should have.  Forgive those who have neglected their commitment to their spouse, sexually, emotionally and relationally. Where those couples have grown cold-hearted, make their hearts tender toward their spouses. Forgive them for the times they’ve become so distracted with the cares of this world that they have neglected their responsibility to one another. Father, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind our married couples of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help our married couples not to yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

We worship You, O Great Deliverer! All praise belongs to You. You are the Lord God of Israel who alone does such wonderful things.  We will praise Your glorious Name forever.  Let the whole earth be filled with Your glory, in Jesus’ Name, Amen!
