October 29: A Prayer of Wisdom and Direction for the United States Presidential Elections

One True Living God, we thank You for the United States of America.  Thank You for Your grace, favor and mercy that You have shown this great nation over the years.  Thank You for allowing our citizens the opportunity to vote for the men and women who will represent us.  The earth is Yours Lord, and everything in it.  The world and all its people belong to You. Father, You laid the earth’s foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths.  Your eternal Word stands firm in heaven.  Your faithfulness extends to every generation, as enduring as the earth You created.

Magnificent Father, voters will elect our next United States of America President and Vice President on Tuesday, November 8th.  As the people of God, we come before You now, crying out for wisdom and discernment for all November 8.  AS People of registered American voters.  We declare that our voters will not be moved or motivated by race, nationality, gender, political alliance, or the media when choosing their candidate for each of these positions.  But, they will seek Your will and trust that You will show them which path to take.  We decree that wisdom will save the voters from evil people and from those whose words are twisted. We command Your Word, which we speak with boldness and faith, to interrupt the airwaves and destroy every word that is spoken by the media that does not align with Your will for these campaigns.  We decree that every attempt to misconstrue the Truth will be confused, in Jesus’ Name.  We declare that the democratic process will be implemented fairly and justly throughout our nation during the elections.  We cancel every assignment of the enemy to cause division or separation among our citizens of America during the elections.

Holy Spirit, please begin to reveal who You would have me to vote for the next United States of America President and Vice President.

Gracious Father, only You know the true heart of man.  Reveal the motives and intents of each candidate.  Just as You clearly identified Saul and later David as kings of Israel, please clearly identify who You have chosen to fill these positions. Encourage the voters to fully educate themselves on each position and candidate.  Please begin to reveal, even now, any potential poling hindrances that would prevent voters from being able to cast their votes.

Merciful Father, forgive the American voters for not always seeking Your will before casting their votes.  Forgive each candidate for any acts of unrighteousness including favoritism, racism, sexism, lying, deceit and manipulation. Forgive the media for partiality and bias.  Forgive those in positions of power who may attempt to skew voting results through voter intimidation, unnecessary redistricting, lies or confusion.  Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed). Holy Spirit, remind the presidential candidates and voting citizens of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.  As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He shows you, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).”  Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help the presidential candidates and voting citizens to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Triumphant Lord, You are King!  You are robed in majesty and armed with strength.  The world stands firm and cannot be shaken.  Your throne has stood from time immemorial.  You are from the everlasting past.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Our Father, we thank You for Your loving care for the citizens of our nation during this time of grief and despair. Thank You, Father, for blessing those who trust in You, who have made You their hope and confidence. Thank You for loving us so much that You sent Your Son, Jesus Christ to redeem us from a life of despair and hopelessness. Gracious Father, we praise You with all of our hearts.  You merely spoke and the heavens were created. You breathed the word and all of the stars were born.  Your plans stand firm forever and Your intentions can never be shaken.  You are an awesome God.

Loving Father, our country is experiencing the aftermath of the tragic shootings in Baton Rouge, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and Dallas.  Lives have been destroyed. Today, we cry out for the families of the people who have died and those who have been injured.  We declare that You, alone, are their refuge and place of safety.  You are their God and they can trust in You. Lord, Your Name is a strong fortress and those who run to You will find spiritual, emotional, and psychological healing.  We confess that even though the families of the victims and those wounded may feel pressure on every side by this tragedy, but they will not be crushed and broken. They may feel perplexed, but they will not give up and quit. They may feel like life is about to run them over, but they will not be abandoned by You. We recognize that their lives have been knocked down by this crime, but we decree that they will get up and keep going.  In Jesus’ Name, we cancel the assignments of the spirits of terrorism, racism, anger, violence, murder and rage.  As Kingdom citizens, we render these spirits powerless. We declare that no weapon formed against the citizens of our nation will succeed, and we silence every voice that rises against us all.

July 13: A Prayer for the Greater Houston Area

Omniscient Father, we thank You for the Greater Houston Area.  Thank You for our city officials, first Responders, public works employees and everyone who helps with the day-to-day operation of this city.  Thank You for the citizens of this great city.  You are great and greatly to be praised. You are to be feared above all gods.  The earth is Yours and everything in it; the world and all its people belong to You.  You laid the earth’s foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths.  Lord, Your works are wonderful.  You are our hope and shield.  In You, do our hearts rejoice because we trust in Your holy Name.  Let Your unfailing love continue to surround us Lord, for our hope is in You alone.

Lord God our Shepherd, let Your Kingdom come and Your will be done in the Greater Houston Area as it is in heaven.  As citizens of this great city, we do not see Jew or Gentile, male or female, black or white.  But, as Your children, we have all put on Christ, like putting on new clothes and we will walk in unity and love with one another. It is because of this love that we exhibit for each other that people will know that we are Your disciples. Your Word tells us that if we love You, we must also love our brothers and sisters in Christ.  Therefore, we declare by faith that the Body of Christ in Houston, Texas will no longer stand and declare our love for You with hate in our hearts for our brothers and sisters in Christ.  We will not look out only for our own interests, but we take an interest in the needs of others.  We will live in harmony with each other and resist racial, social, and economic division.  We will be of one mind, united in thought and purpose. We declare that the people in our communities will turn away from evil, and do good; they will search for peace and work to maintain it.

Holy Spirit, remove the scales from the eyes of the unsaved people in our city and draw them to the glory of the Father so that they will confess Jesus Christ and receive Him as their Savior and Lord.  Mobilize and send us and other believers into our communities to share the Gospel, causing Your power to prevail throughout our city. Holy Spirit, please help the residents of this city to stand for justice and righteousness. Lord, please help the leaders of our city. We ask that Your Spirit of wisdom, understanding, counsel, and power rests upon each political, civic, religious and business leader, investor, and entrepreneur in our city. Fill them with the knowledge of Your will and give them a thirst for Your Word, so that they will walk in Your ways for practicing business. Help them to make righteous decisions and operate with honesty and integrity. Holy Spirit, synchronize the hearts of every believer in our city and unify our spirits to receive and submit to Your vision for our city.  Holy Spirit, bless the Greater Houston Area to be a beacon of light and hope for the nation.

What are some specific concerns you have about our city?  Ask the Holy Spirit how He would have you act as an agent of change to address these issues:

Righteous Father, forgive us for any acts of sinfulness, including strife, discord, jealousy, rivalries, violence, theft, injustice, hatred, oppression, greed, idolatry, pride, slander, racism, sexism, ageism, laziness, apathy, and any abuse of power.  Forgive those people in our city who do not trust in You.  Forgive those of us who are Christians who have not shared Your Gospel with our neighbors.  Father, please have mercy on our city.  Father, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind us of those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He shows you, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).”  Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.

Holy Spirit, help us not to yield to temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

Immortal Lord, who can be compared with You?  You are enthroned on high.  You stoop to look down on heaven and on earth.  Your strong right arm is raised in triumph.  Your strong arm has done glorious things!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

July 8: A Prayer for Healthy, Happy Marriages in the Body of Christ

Exalted Father, thank You for Your great love that continues from generation to generation!  Thank You for the married couples in the Body of Christ.  Thank You for encouraging and blessing our marriages.  With our whole being we praise You. We rejoice in knowing that You are our God, and that we are the people You watch over and the flock under Your care. Thank You, Lord!  We bless Your holy Name!  We stand in awe of You and Your unfailing love for us. You are the Master who motivates our hearts toward all that is good. We acknowledge Your sovereignty over our marriages. We will sing a new song to You, Lord, for the wonderful deeds You have done. We shout with joy and worship You with gladness.  We come before You singing with joy.  You are the Lord, our Father, who made us and we are Yours!

Holy Spirit, as the Body of Christ, we expect You to lead us into all truth as it pertains to the covenant of marriage. We confess that our married couples are never subject to the spirit of fear; but they have power, love and self-discipline to help them keep their covenant pure. Lord, we confess that our husbands will live with their wives according to knowledge and they will cherish them as the manifested gift of God’s favor. We declare that our wives will honor their husbands and will adorn themselves as Sarah did, not with material elegance, but with a quiet and peaceful spirit which You love, Lord God.  As the Body of Christ, we confess that our married couples will daily aspire to the greater love that Jesus personified and live a servant’s life before one another. We declare that they will provoke one another to good works and celebrate one another’s gifts. We confess that they will commit to encourage and build one another up in the Lord!

Holy Spirit, help each spouse to keep a heart of unconditional love for their mate. Reveal creative ways for our married couples to love and enjoy each other. Heal wounds and hurts and rejoin marriages that seem to be walking down separate paths. Teach them to freely issue mercy and to forgive quickly without allowing grudges to form.  Magnify the model of marriage through those who have healthy marriages, so that others are inspired and encouraged.  Anoint their unity together as husbands and wives, so that their children will be given stability and assurance, and the unsaved will be given hope concerning the sanctity of marriage. Re-light the passion and fire for those who are struggling sexually and emotionally. When our married couples speak of one another, whether in public or private, please season their tongues with grace. Help our married couples to stay committed to truth and to cover one another’s weaknesses with unyielding love.

Father, as a spouse, I commit to making my marriage better by:

Father, as a single person, I commit to praying for the following marriage(s):

Holy Father, forgive our married couples for being too stubborn to offer grace and mercy to their spouses when they should have.  Forgive those who have neglected their commitment to their spouse, sexually, emotionally and relationally. Where those couples have grown cold-hearted, make their hearts tender toward their spouses. Forgive them for the times they’ve become so distracted with the cares of this world that they have neglected their responsibility to one another. Father, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind our married couples of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.

Awesome Father, help our married couples not to yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

We worship You, O Great Deliverer! All praise belongs to You. You are the Lord God of Israel who alone does such wonderful things.  We will praise Your glorious Name forever.  Let the whole earth be filled with Your glory, in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

June 27: A Prayer for Our Political Leaders (local, state, and national)

Righteous Father, we thank You for blessing our nation to be a mighty government in the earth.  Thank You for allowing us to call upon You in our times of need as a nation. Thank You, Lord, for Your bountiful blessings.  We are grateful, and we bless Your Name. You are robed in majesty and armed with strength.  The world stands firm and cannot be shaken.  We praise Your Name, Father, forever and ever.  You have all wisdom and power.  You control the course of world events; removing kings and setting up other kings.  You give wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholars. You reveal deep and mysterious things and only You know what lies hidden in darkness, though You are surrounded by light.

Triumphant Father, in obedience to Your Word, we make intercession on behalf of those who are in positions of authority in our city, state and nation; so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.  We pray for President Barack Obama and all state, and national leaders.  We pray for Mayor Sylvester Turner, our city council members and all other local leaders.  By faith, we call our local, state, and national leaders saved, sanctified, and filled with Your Holy Spirit. We decree that as our political leaders seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, they will receive from You everything they need to lead our nation, state and city.  We declare that the decisions made by our political leaders will be inspired and directed by the Holy Spirit. We destroy the assignments of the devil and we silence the voice of every demonic force.

Holy Spirit, I commit to pray for the following leaders this month:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Holy Spirit, we ask You to fill our city, state, and national political leaders with wisdom, understanding, discernment, and knowledge. Grant them favor, increase their faith, and prepare them to pursue Your excellence. Draw them to You and cause them to know and fulfill Your purposes.  Please place people in their paths that will provide scriptural, sound and godly counsel; for without Your counsel their plans will go awry.  Impart Your wisdom and revelation to them about leadership and help them to lead. Deal with our leaders about keeping their hearts and motives pure. We ask You to make their hearts pliable, willing and obedient to Your will.  Cause each of their lives to glorify Your Name.

Loving Father, please forgive our local, state and national leaders for their sins. Forgive those who do not consult with You daily. Forgive them for greed, hypocrisy, injustice, selfish ambitions, pride, arrogance, idolatry, adultery, slander, sexism, elitism, oppression, partiality, lust, manipulations, lying, ungodliness, fornication, homosexuality, perversion, and all other acts of sinfulness. Lord, forgive us for not praying for our leaders consistently.  Forgive us, the body of Christ, for making our political decisions based on the opinions, rhetoric, and untruths of political pundits and talking heads who do not align their agendas with Yours.  Forgive those politicians who say they are Christians, but conduct their affairs in a manner that opposes Your Word.  Father, please have mercy on this nation. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed.)  Holy Spirit, remind our local, state and national leaders of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help our local, state and national leaders to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Holy, Holy, Holy, are You, the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is and is to come.  You alone are God.  You are subject to none, yet all are subject to You.  Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory, forever.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

June 24: A Prayer Concerning Suicide Among Youth and Adults

Eternal Father, we thank You for being Immanuel, God with us. Thank You for allowing us to call to you whenever we are troubled, and for answering us. We thank You that Your arm is not too short to reach the youth and adults who are despairing of life right now. So many of them feel alone and defeated, but we know that those who are in the Lord will never be abandoned. You are a shield around us. You are our glory; the one who holds our heads high. Lord, Your majestic Name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens. When we look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers – the moon and the stars you set in place. What are mere mortals that You should think about us? Human beings, that You should care for us? Yet you made us only a little lower than Yourself and crowned us with glory and honor.

Almighty Father, we come crying out for our brothers and sisters in Christ who have been battling with suicidal thoughts and behaviors.  We decree that they may be pressed on every side by troubles, but they will not be crushed. They may feel perplexed but they will not be driven to despair.  They may feel hunted down, but they are never abandoned by You.  They may get knocked down, but they are not destroyed.  We decree that they are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus. We confess that they will recognize that the weapons of their warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.  They will bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.  In the Name of Jesus, we rebuke the evil one and cancel his plans to kill, steal, and destroy the lives of our youth and adults. We declare that he will not cheat them out of the rich and satisfying life that You purposed for them to have. We believe that You will restore to them the joy of Your salvation. You will unseal their lips that their mouths may once again praise you.

Holy Spirit, shine the divine light of the Father’s love into the broken hearts of our youth and adults. Remind them that He loved them so much that He gave His one and only Son so that those who believe in Him will not perish but have eternal life. Enlighten their perspective and help them to lift their eyes above their past hurts and present disappointments. Teach them until they are fully convinced that nothing can ever separate them from the Father’s love. Give us, the Body of Christ, a heart like the Father’s so that we will always be sensitive to one another’s needs and show genuine compassion. Give us wisdom to know how to reach those youth and adults who are feeling suicidal. Warn their family members, co-workers, teachers, coaches, and close friends so that they do not miss those critical moments of intervention. Show us how we can better connect with like-minded organizations within our community to form a strong alliance against the social, economic, spiritual, and psychological contributors to suicide among our youth and adults.

List the names of youth or adults whom the Holy Spirit is leading you to specifically cover in prayer today. Then do your best to personally reach out to them in some loving way:

Gracious Father, forgive those youth and adults who are feeling suicidal for any acts of sinfulness.  Forgive them for not trusting You to deliver them out of their current situation.  Forgive them for allowing the world to define them and their circumstances instead of Your Word.  Forgive us, the Body of Christ, for failing to notice the cries for help that our brothers and sisters have made.  Forgive us for being inconsistent in our love walk toward our youth and adults who are silently suffering. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind us of all those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help our youth and adults not to yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Magnificent Lord, You are our Savior. You are the hope of everyone on earth. You formed the mountains by Your power and armed Yourself with mighty strength. You quieted the raging oceans with their pounding waves. You silenced the shouting of the nations. Those  who live at the ends of the earth stand in awe of Your wonders. From where the sun rises to where it sets, You inspire shouts of joy. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

June 19: A Prayer for Our Fathers

Triumphant Father, we thank You for the fathers in the Body of Christ.  Thank You for reminding them daily that they are created in Your image.  Thank You for crowning each of them with glory and honor.  Thank You for helping them to take their rightful place as the head of their homes.  We, Your servants, give praise to You, Lord.  Your Name will be blessed now and forever!  Everywhere from east to west, Your Name shall be praised.  Lord, You are high above the nations; Your glory is higher than the heavens.  No one can be compared with You!  Not to us, O Lord, but all glory will go to Your Name for Your unfailing love and Your faithfulness.

Majestic Father, by faith, we declare that the fathers in the Body of Christ are saved, sanctified, and filled with Your Holy Spirit. They are priestly providers and protectors of their families.  We confess that our fathers will not copy the behavior and customs of this world; but they will allow You, Lord, to transform them into new men by changing the way they think.  We decree that our fathers are the head and not the tail; they are always on top and never at the bottom.  They are not victims of society; but they are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus.  Their children will honor them; for this is right in Your sight.  We confess that our fathers will not provoke their children to anger by the way they treat them; but they will raise them with the discipline and instruction that comes from You, our Heavenly Father.  Above all, we confess that our fathers have victorious futures because Your plans for them are of hope, filled with good and not evil.  We decree that the fruit of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control are evident in their lives.  The light of Jesus is reflected in their actions.  We confess that our fathers are mighty men of valor.

I will pray for the following fathers in the Body of Christ this month:

Holy Spirit, we ask You to fill our fathers with the knowledge of Your Word in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. Please order their days so that their daily activities are balanced and fruitful.  Make the crooked places in their lives straight and perfect those things that concern them.  Help each father to not grieve Your Spirit. Teach them how to develop the individual spiritual gifts and talents of their children.  Restore the broken or struggling relationships between fathers and children. Increase Your love in those father/child(ren) relationships that are doing well.  Holy Spirit, comfort those who have experienced the death of their father and equip us as the Body of Christ to provide the support that they may need.

Faithful Father, forgive our fathers for sins of disobedience, selfishness, and lying.  Forgive our wives and mothers for taking on the roles You have ordained for husbands and fathers. Forgive us as a society for focusing on the fathers who are not living up to their responsibilities while ignoring those who are taking care of their families. Father, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind our fathers of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help our fathers to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Exalted Lord, we praise Your Name.  Your Name is great; Your glory towers over the earth and heaven.  You are worthy, Lord, to receive glory, honor and power.  You created all things; by your will they exist and were created.  You are Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

June 14: A Prayer for National Unity

Heavenly Father, we thank You for blessing the United States of America throughout the years.  Thank You for surrounding our nation with Your favor, grace and mercy.  Thank You for being our source, supply and hope.  Thank You for entrusting us to pray for our leaders.  Thank You for unifying our nation and for continuing to bless us.  Your faithful love endures forever.  Lord, Your majestic Name fills the earth.  Your glory is higher than the heavens.   May Your glorious Name be praised!  May it be exalted above all blessing and praise!  You alone are the Lord.  You made the skies and the heavens and all the stars. You made the earth and the seas and everything in them.  You preserve them all, and the angels of heaven worship You.  We, Your children bless You!

Invincible Father, as Your people, we humble ourselves, pray and seek Your face.  We believe that as we turn towards you, You will hear from heaven, forgive our sins, and heal our land.  We are expecting Your eyes to open and Your ears to be attentive to our prayers.  As a nation, we declare that we will live together in unity.  We confess that as a nation, we will be of one mind, we will sympathize with each other and love each other as brothers and sisters.  We will be tenderhearted, keep a humble attitude and will not repay evil for evil or retaliate with insults when people insult us. Lord, Your Word admonishes that a city or house divided against itself will not stand. We declare that our political, civil, business and religious leaders will work together to bring peace and unity into our nation.  We commit to praying for our political leaders and those that are in authority over us so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by Godliness and dignity.

We are seeing and hearing a lot about division in our nation on the news.  Find scriptures about unity and begin to declare them over our city, state and nation:

Holy Spirit, we ask that You to circumcise the hearts of the Christian members of Congress and use them as a catalyst for change.  Help the Body of Christ to find ways to be the light in the midst of all the negativity and darkness in our nation.  Please continue to heal the wounds that recent cases of injustice along with careless rhetoric from the media and politicians have created in our nation. Cast out the spirit of fear that has gripped the hearts and minds of so many Americans and help us to get back to being a nation of people who looked out for their neighbor.

Faithful Father, forgive our nation for its many sins. Forgive us for racism, sexism, ageism, idolatry, lying, deceit and character assassination. Forgive us for being self-serving, boastful, proud and arrogant.  Forgive us for not acknowledging Your authority and for compromising Your truth.  Forgive the Body of Christ for not praying more fervently about the situations in our nation.  Forgive those who continually stir up confusion and strife.  Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind us all of those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, as a nation, help us not to yield to temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

Victorious Lord, there is none like You.  You are great and Your Name is full of power.  Who would not fear You, O King of the nations?  That title belongs to You, alone!  Among all the wise people of the earth and in all the kingdoms of the world, there is no one like You.  You are the King of glory.  You are the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.  You are worthy, Lord our God, to receive glory, honor and power.  You created all things and they exist because You created what You pleased.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

June 2: A Prayer for a Disciplined Lifestyle

Loving Father, we thank You for Jesus. Thank You for working in us; giving us the desire and the power to do what please You. We give You thanks, O Lord, with all our hearts. We will sing Your praises. We bow before Your holy Temple as we worship. We praise Your Name for Your unfailing love and faithfulness, for Your promises are backed by all the honor of Your Name. As soon as we pray, You answer us. You encourage us by giving us strength.

Divine Father, apart from Jesus, the True Vine, we can do nothing. We realize that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit.  We do not belong to ourselves for You bought us with a high price, so we must honor You with our bodies. As true disciples of Jesus Christ, we will remain faithful to His teachings. We know the truth, and the truth as set us free. We will remain strong and immovable. We understand the impact of our influence on others, therefore we make a decision today to live in such a way that will not cause another believer to stumble and fall. Father, we declare that we listen to Your voice. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we take authority over our minds, wills, and emotions because we are surrounded by a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith. Therefore, we strip off every weight that slows us down; especially the sin that easily trips us up. And we declare that we will run with endurance the race that You have set before us. We will do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the Champion who initiates and perfects our faith.

Holy Spirit, remind us that the Father has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. We ask You to guide our lives so that we won’t do what our sinful nature craves. Give us desires that are opposite of what our sinful nature desires so that we can remain faithful to the calling of God on our lives. Show us how to develop an ear to hear You when You speak the Father’s will to us and help us to be quick to obey. Whenever we are in danger of backsliding into our old ways, please help us to remember that we are the salt and light to this world.

Holy Spirit, today I will commit to developing greater spiritual discipline by doing the following (write down the Holy Spirit’s instructions to you):

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Precious Father, forgive us of our sins. Forgive us for neglecting and rejecting spiritual discipline in our personal lives. Forgive us for straying away and leaving Your righteousness to follow our own sinfulness. Forgive us for being foolish and prideful. Forgive us for failing to hide Your Word in our hearts on a regular basis to safeguard ourselves from sinning against You. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that You have committed). Holy Spirit, remind us of those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He shows you, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).”  Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help us all to not yield to temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

God, You are honored in Judah. Your Name is great in Israel. Jerusalem is where You live and Mount Zion is Your home. Salvation comes from You, the God who sits on the throne and from the Lamb! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and strength belong to You forever and ever!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

May 27: A Prayer for Our Health Professionals

Divine Father, thank You for showing us the wonders of Your unfailing love. Thank You for hearing our cry for mercy and answering our call for help. Thank You for all those in the Body of Christ who serve in the health profession. We thank You for doctors, nurses, researchers, scientists, hospital administrators, therapists, pharmacists, medical assistants, paramedics, and medical technicians with discernment, understanding, knowledge, and courage. What a blessing they are to all of us! By Your wisdom, You have strategically equipped and anointed men and women with expertise in medicine, science, nutrition, pharmacy, surgery, rehabilitation, and counseling. Lord, You made the heavens Your throne; You rule over everything from there.  Your angels praise You, Lord.  Your mighty ones who carry out Your plans, listen for each of Your commands.  Lord, everything that You created will praise You; everything in Your Kingdom!   Let all that we are praise You!

All-Wise Father, we decree that just as the Hebrew midwives, Shiphrah and Puah, feared and obeyed You, our health professionals will not succumb to the pressure to compromise; but they remain committed to their oath to “do no harm.” We believe that You are working wonders in the health profession right now. We confess that our health professionals believe in the promises of Your Word, and as they ask You, You will tell them remarkable secrets about things to come in their profession. They will be pioneers in discovering cures and medical breakthroughs for our generation. We decree that the health professionals in our Church Family will seek Your wisdom and knowledge and always pursue excellence in their chosen fields.  They are dedicated to the proper care and treatment of all their patients and they will remember to show their patients mercy, just as You have shown mercy to them.

Ask the Holy Spirit to remind you of the names of those you know in the healthcare field and pray for their specific needs:

Holy Spirit, remind our health professionals not to trust in human wisdom; but in the power of God. Please comfort the hearts of those who have recently lost a patient who was under their care. Help them to heal from the emotional wounds that come along with their jobs. Give them the boldness they need to stand up for their patients’ rights and to contribute significantly to the pursuit of health reform in our country. Remind our health professionals that they represent the Kingdom of God in the health industry, so their demeanor and behavior should reflect Kingdom principles. Please continue to bless the covenant partnerships that our ministries have formed with the medical community, including Texas Children’s Hospital, Methodist Hospital, M.D. Anderson and TIRR Memorial Hermann.  May we continue to work together to bring the best healthcare to more underserved communities.

Beloved Father, forgive those among our health professionals who have been prideful and arrogant, taking Your glory for themselves. Forgive those who have been more concerned with financial gain than being a servant. Forgive those who have neglected to do their jobs in excellence and who have placed the lives of others in jeopardy by cutting corners and taking shortcuts. Forgive those who have failed to show compassion while working with the loved ones of their patients.  Holy Spirit, remind our health professionals of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help our health professionals not to yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Lord of Glory, You alone are God. You are the First and the Last. It was Your hand that laid the foundations of the earth. Your right hand spread out the heavens above. When You call out the stars, they all appear in order.  You alone can never die and You live in light so brilliant that no human can approach You. No human eye has ever seen You, nor ever will. All honor and power is Yours forever, Lord!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
